Thanksgiving is quickly approaching and here at Gynecology Associates of Gwinnett, we have plenty to be thankful for. This year has been amazing, between adding new additions to our team of reproductive healthcare providers, opening our new medical spa, MadEmEl Medical Aesthetics, and providing women in the Gwinnett area with the best in gynecological and wellness services. According to healthcare experts, there are many positive health effects associated with feeling this kind of gratitude

health tips from gwinnett gynecologistResearchers and health experts have concluded in recent years that there is a real link between thankfulness and physical health. This doesn’t mean that regularly saying “thank you” is the key to maintaining long-term wellness. However, it’s true that a consistently positive, thankful attitude can contribute to good psychological and physical health. Grateful people typically take better care of themselves, feel less stressed out, and engage in more protective behaviors including getting regular exercise, eating a healthy diet, making time for regular physical examinations.

To get into the spirit of the season, we wanted to share a few tips on how women can foster a more positive outlook this Thanksgiving and beyond:

  • Keep notes of things that make you feel grateful.
  • Express your thanks to the special people in your life. Whether it be your partner, friends, family, co-workers or anyone you are thankful to have in your life, letting them know that you are grateful to have them around can greatly boost your mood (and theirs).
  • Start small. Try focusing on little things and gestures that make you feel happy instead of waiting for some larger event to happen.
  • Write “Thank You” notes. With holiday gift-giving season approaching, this is the perfect time to get in the habit of showing your gratitude with a “Thank You” note.

We recommend trying this out for yourself this holiday season. While we can’t guarantee these steps will be able to improve your health, there’s no risk to maintaining a grateful and thankful attitude.
